Grover and i were childhood friends growing up in the same neiborhood. We called him by his nickname Skip. We attended Oakland grade school, Hunt jr. high and M.T. together. One of the funny moments i remember about Skip was waiting for the school bus in the morning in the 8th grade when he was running late and his hair was wet. It must of about 20 degress out and his hair was frozen. We all had a big laugh.. The last time i saw Skip was around christmas of '68. He was on leave from the army and stopped by to see me. He was getting ready to ship out to Vietnam. He was trained as a helicopter repairman. He was only in county about 5 weeks when the helicoper he was riding in crashed and took his life. Gone at 20 years old but never forgotten.. vic.
